Mission Statement
The Chamber provides regional leadership, promoting a favorable business climate through total member involvement.
Vision
The Norwin Chamber of Commerce is an active organization of area businesses, industries, and community organizations promoting regional economic and community
interests.
Purpose of the Chamber
The Chamber implements its mission through the following actions:
-
Increasing the effectiveness of Chamber organization and operations.
-
Improving the quantity and quality of services provided to Chamber members.
-
Expanding financial support and achieving financial self-sufficiency.
-
Promoting a healthy and vital business environment along with appropriate economic development of the region.
-
Forming community partnerships that support and enable the mission.
-
Working toward the unification of the region as an economic center of influence within the County of Westmoreland.
The Work of the Chamber
Your Chamber is working harder than ever to develop opportunities for area businesses, overcome economic challenges, and promote regional and community interests.
As always, the goal of the Norwin Chamber of Commerce is to enable the achievement, growth, and success of our member businesses and the community as a whole. Throughout the year, we
organize events, enable committees to complete their projects, and administer and increase the benefits of membership.
We have accomplished a great deal over the last two years.
-
In 2002, we attracted the participation of large area employers and manufacturers. In 2003, this participation will result in the establishment of the Western
Westmoreland Manufacturers' Network. We are excited about bringing together the expertise and influence of the area's big businesses to work toward a stronger economic base for
Westmoreland County.
-
We developed the Chamber's first Niche Group, a marketing based alliance of tightly coordinated businesses. Niche Group businesses will work closely together,
almost as departments in a virtual company. By combining their strengths, these businesses are able to expand the services they offer to their customers.
-
Networking opportunities for members have also been expanded. We established the Monthly Membership Luncheon for members to meet and communicate with each other and
to listen to speakers who cover topics related to business and community development. Chamber mixers bring additional networking opportunities one evening each quarter. In addition
to providing valued speakers and topics of interest to area businessmen and women, these events reinforce our growing business ties with one another.
-
We continue to refine our public relations efforts. In 2002, we updated the Chamber's monthly newsletter, Vocal Point. This redesign, in both content and layout,
reinforces our mission to promote a favorable business climate in the region. This membership directory and the Chamber's newly redesigned website also further our goals of putting
members in touch with one another, allowing them to combine their areas of expertise to enhance their businesses.
In 2003, we expect many more opportunities for continued progress. The challenges to business development are greater than ever. That is why we encourage you, with
great enthusiasm, to make the Chamber your own. No single employee, volunteer, or committee can make your business succeed, nor can the Chamber itself fulfill its mission without
your direct participation. Only by hard work and remaining united in our efforts can we surpass the successes of last year and continue to build a business community in which all may
flourish.
